It rains at my home in Bavaria. And I was just reminded that somtimes also rains in North Korea. Many thanks to the person who uploaded the video about our motorcycle tour to North Korea. And many thanks to the person who informed me about it. I don’t understand the words, but I recognize the faces. I remember the people. And I remember all the emotions we shared.

On Friday morning, the Bavarian sky once again showed off what it can do 💪 🌧 but thankfully presented itself afterwards in its best Bavarian white and blue 🌤 😎 Many thanks to all involved for the lovely opportunity to meet dear people in the dreamlike setting of Garmisch-Partenkirchen and have a good time together 🙏

2025-07-03 It’s been a long time …

 

Wow, the opening of the special exhibition at the BMW Museum in Munich, with my ‘Winter Journey to Alaska’-BMW F800GS, was 12 years ago now … back then I rode straight from the museum to the BMW Motorrad Days in Garmisch. Tomorrow I’m going to Garmisch again, without stopping at the museum 😉 I’m looking forward to meeting lots of motorcycle friends there, both known and (as yet) unknown. Which of you will be there on Friday?

2025-06-14 Talking about anniversaries

Speaking of Touratech’s anniversary: exactly 20 years ago, I was told that it was possible to enter China on my motorcycle and ride there without the guide, that is mandatory by the state. I thought about it for a few days, then canceled everything else and set off within 4 weeks: via Poland, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Russia to Mongolia. The original plan didn’t work out, but in the end I succeeded: I was on the road in the People’s Republic of China for almost 6 months, able to move freely for over 28,000 kilometers without the guide that is mandatory by the state. I saw a wonderful country and met great people. Many thanks to every single person who made my trip such a wonderful, intense and deeply human experience. Is there anyone else who has managed to ride his/her own motorcycle for such a long time in China without the guide one has to have by law?

This weekend is the 20th Touratech Travel Event and Touratech is celebrating its 35th anniversary – this is also a reason for me to celebrate and I congratulate you warmly ❤
Touratech has accompanied me on many trips. For example to China and in winter to Alaska – and they have always supported me very well

10 years ago, my R100GS/P was part of the special exhibition ‘Reise Helden’. Of course, the special exhibition had to give way to other topics long ago. But the German Two-Wheeler and NSU Museum Neckarsulm is always worth a visit, even without my BMW 👍 And I’m glad to have my ‘grand old lady’ back

2025-03-19 Extra beautiful

A year ago, I fell in my office and broke my femur.

On the anniversary, I started my BMW R100GS for the first time in over a year: Charge the battery, open the fuel tap, press the starter: 1x brmpf and then: brumm brumm brumm – I LOVE her!!!! 😎🤗😘
And then I rode my motorcycle again for the first time. To the MOT. And HURRA: she got it 👍 Sometimes life is extra beautiful!!!

2025-03-18 BMW Museum – Update

The special exhibition ‘100 years of BMW Motorrad’ was dismantled and I picked up the souvenirs that were displayed next to ‘my’ Lady Sunshine, the F800GS I rode the Dalton Highway in winter with. Among other things, there was Betty’s scarf – thanks again for that, I learned a lot from you, dear Betty!
The hardcover book about my ‘Winter Trip to Alaska’ is still available in the BMW Museum Shop 👍 And the paperback and the ebook about the trip are available in bookstores and online, e.g. here: epubli-Shop
